SIPADAN - THE BEST, BAR NONE.

Voted as one of the best dive sites in the world, it's clear that this oceanic island rising 600m from the sea bed well and truly deserves that title.

Off the coast of Sabah in East Malaysia is home to more than 400 species of fish and hundreds of coral species. This highly protected area requires a permit issued by a Malaysian governmental body known as Sabah Parks.

You even have to spend 4 days minimum in the surrounding Mabul and Kapalai islands to be granted the permission needed to dive in Sipadan. But it's worth it!

From its sprawling coral reefs to its diverse marine population consisting of barracudas, trevallies, jackfish, parrotfish and if you are very lucky - hammerhead sharks. This protected island's beaches are also renowned as mating and nesting spots of green and hawksbill turtles.
